Enrollment Periods
What are the different enrollment periods, and when can I enroll?
Initial Enrollment Period (IEP): This period starts three months before the month of your 65th birthday and lasts for seven months. During this time, you can enroll in Medicare Parts A and B and also add on a Medicare Advantage, Supplement, or Part D Plan.
Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): This period runs from October 15 to December 7 each year and is for individuals who are already enrolled in Medicare. During AEP, you can make changes to your Medicare Advantage or Part D drug plans.
Special Enrollment Period (SEP): If you have a life-changing event like losing employer coverage or moving, you may be eligible for a SEP. During this time, you can enroll in or switch Medicare plans outside of the standard enrollment periods.
Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (MA OEP): Occurs 1/1-3/31 every year. During this time, you can switch from one Medicare Advantage Plan to another or switch from a Medicare Advantage Plan back to Original Medicare and add a Part D Plan.
